Equinor, the Norwegian state-owned energy company, needed to expand their office space on a project basis. This project come with a few exciting challenges:

  1. We needed to plan a space that met all of Equinor's needs logistically, but which would also function well for future companies once Equinor's project was completed.

  2. Following Equinor's sustainability ambitions, we were eager to make this a low-carbon project. Our aim was to reuse as much building material as possible, reuse furniture by getting them reupholstered locally and with sustainable textiles, and supplement building materials, furniture, and lighting with sustainable choices.

  3. While keeping the first two point in mind, we also clearly wanted to create an environment which people who enjoy working in- a space that supports concentration, creativity, and relaxation. An office space needs to be versatile, accommodating to both the various needs of the people working there and the various types of work being done throughout the day.

In order to meet these challenges, we took a biophillic approach to this project.    We started this project in 2023 and, as of May 2024, it is in the building phase. We have delivered the contract drawings, the technical specifications for bespoke furniture pieces and joinery, the paint and material plan, lighting and furniture plan, and completed the souring and procurement of all furniture and lighting.

"Our journey to develop as a broad energy company is founded on a strong commitment to sustainability, and our strategic pillars – always safe, high value and low carbon – are applied in everything we do."
